MANOR HOUSE NEAR BIRDLIP, GLOUCESTERSHIRE

This conversion included the complete refurbishment of the main house and linking this to a new underground swimming pool and the adjoining barn. The structure of the swimming pool included a 900mm deep I-beam to span the glazed doors which retracted into the hillside. At the back of the pool was a 21 metre long rooflight flush with the grass above. The grass roof was used for cricket nets. The client did not approve any of the builders who tendered, and decided to take on the job himself with his own sub-contractors, making for a successful and stress-free contract.
